Pre-Trip, During & Post-Trip
Pre-Trip
-
Spend time exploring the tour page, and familiarize yourself with the details of the trip
-
Check the weather and pack accordingly - a sturdy waterproof jacket, walking shoes that keep your feet dry, and clothes that could be easily washed in the hotel sink
-
Pack enough cash (the amount is up to you, but $50-$100/day will keep you safe!) and check the exchange currency
-
Find the contact information for your tour guide and the Rick Steves' offices
-
Our adventure actually started the week before in England, and we ran into train delays on the way to Inverness. We were so grateful to the Rick Steves' travel staff that helped us navigate this, and they informed our tour guide that we would be arriving slightly behind schedule

During
-
One of the best parts of the tour are your fellow travelers - take the time get to know who you are with, and share in the joy of travel together!
-
Make sure you know the time you need to be somewhere, and stick to it
-
Take care of yourself - rest on the bus, get enough sleep, and stay hydrated
-
Be open to new ideas, new ways of thinking, and let yourself be challenged!
-
Don't be afraid to take an excess of pictures and notes- it helps later on to keep the trip alive
Post-Trip
-
Back up those pictures so you never lose your precious memories
-
Create a coffee table picture book to display your adventures
-
Tell everyone you know about your experience with your Rick Steves' tour- we certainly have!
